Mark Manson was born on March 9, 1984, in Austin, Texas. After graduating from Boston University with a degree in finance, he rejected corporate career paths and began traveling the world, supporting himself through online writing and dating advice blogs. His blog, markmanson.net, grew to attract millions of readers with its combination of personal development content, philosophical ideas, and deliberately provocative writing style.
