brewers' spent grains

A byproduct from brewing that is comparable to the distillers' grains from distilling and can be put to some of the same uses, such as animal feed supplementation; it comprises what is left of the malted grains after the fermentation, which includes much cellulose, lignin, other fiber, and proteins.
