Privacy Policy

1. Information you give us

None, unless you choose to email us. There is no registration, no stored preference tied to an identity, and no form on this site that sends personal data to our servers. Dictionary lookups and Scrabble checks are sent to our own endpoint only to return a result; they are not stored against any identifier.

If you write to [email protected], we keep your message so we can reply to it. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not sell or share your address.

2. Information collected automatically

Google Analytics

Every page loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-G6RLLMB44Q) from googletagmanager.com. It sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and reports to Google the page you viewed, the referring page, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device type, browser and screen size, and how long you stayed. Google truncates the IP address before storing it. We see aggregate reports only; we cannot identify an individual visitor from them.

Server and CDN logs

The site is served through Cloudflare in front of our own origin server. Both keep standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, URL, user agent, response status — for security and abuse prevention. Cloudflare may set its own bot-management cookies such as __cf_bm.

3. Affiliate links

SumSumSum participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. The “Buy on Amazon” button on every book page is an affiliate link carrying our tracking ID siegalryan-sss-20. If you click it and buy something, Amazon pays us a commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon sets its own cookies once you arrive there, and Amazon's privacy notice governs everything that happens on amazon.com. Amazon reports clicks, orders and earnings to us in aggregate; it does not tell us who you are.

Amazon Associates is the only affiliate program this site takes part in. We run no display advertising and accept no sponsored placement, and an affiliate relationship never affects which books we analyze or what the analysis says.

4. Third-party content loaded into the page

• Open Library / Internet Archive— book cover images are loaded directly from covers.openlibrary.org, so your browser makes a request to the Internet Archive, which sees your IP address and user agent.
• Google— the analytics tag is fetched from googletagmanager.com on every page.
• Amazon— contacted only when you click a “Buy on Amazon” link.
• Our sister sites— some book pages link out to rankquant.com for screen adaptations. Those are plain links with no tracking parameters.

5. Cookies

We set no cookies of our own. The cookies present on this site come from Google Analytics and Cloudflare, as described above. You can block or delete them in your browser at any time and the site will work normally without them. Google offers a browser opt-out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

6. Children

SumSumSum is a study reference used by students, including students under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone of any age, because we collect none directly. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.

7. Your rights and choices

We do not sell or share personal information and we do not build advertising profiles. Because we hold no account data, there is normally nothing for us to look up, export, or delete on request. If you are in the EU, the UK, or California and want to act on data Google holds about your visit, use the Google Analytics opt-out above or your browser's cookie controls. For anything else, email us and we will do what we can.

8. Changes to this policy

If we add a service that changes what is collected, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. We do not keep an archive of previous versions.
