1. What this site is for

SumSumSum is a free educational reference. The book analyses, study guides, cheat sheets and dictionary entries are study support. They are not a substitute for reading the work itself, and they are not professional, legal, medical or financial advice of any kind.

2. Accuracy, and the limits of it

We check our analyses against primary sources and published criticism, and our method and source list is on the About & Sources page. We still make mistakes. Content is provided “as is”, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose. If you spot an error, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it.

To the fullest extent the law allows, SumSumSum is not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published here — including a grade.

3. Academic integrity

Use this site to understand a text, to find quotations worth thinking about, and to build your own argument. Do not copy our prose into an assignment and present it as your own work. That is your school's definition of plagiarism, not ours, and we cannot help you if you are caught.

4. Intellectual property

• The analysis, commentary, summaries, essay questions and page design on this site are ours. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link to the page you took them from.
• Quotations from the books discussed remain the property of their rights holders and are used briefly, for the purpose of criticism and comment, with attribution.
• Dictionary entries derive from public-domain and open reference corpora, including Webster's Dictionary (1913), WordNet (Princeton) and Wiktionary. Those upstream licences continue to apply to the underlying material.
• Cover images are served by Open Library / the Internet Archive and are not ours to license.

5. Automated access and AI retrieval

Our robots.txt is allow-all and we mean it: crawl the site, quote it, and cite it. We publish /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt specifically to make that easier. Attribution is requested: “SumSumSum”, linked to the specific page used.

We ask that you not mirror the dictionary corpus in bulk, and that automated requests stay at a rate that does not degrade the site for readers. We may rate-limit or block a client that ignores this.

6. Affiliate links

SumSumSum participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Book pages carry an Amazon affiliate link with the tracking ID siegalryan-sss-20, and as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. It is the only affiliate program on this site; we run no display advertising and accept no paid placement in a book analysis or a dictionary entry. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

7. Links to other sites

We link out to Amazon, to Open Library, and to sister sites in our own network. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

8. Changes and availability

We may change these terms, and we may add, edit or remove any page at any time without notice. The effective date at the top tells you when this version was published. The site is offered free and we make no promise that it will always be reachable.
